Meet Moriah Veach, LCSW: Compassionate Care for Teens & Adults in Carmel, IN
Some people find their way into this field through a single defining moment. Others follow a thread that starts early and just keeps pulling. For Moriah Veach, LCSW, it was a little of both.
Moriah joined the Little Hearts Big Hearts Counseling team in March 2026, and she is now welcoming new clients. She works with teens and adults, and her specialties include trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use. But the story of how she got here is worth knowing.
A Path Shaped by Real People
Moriah has always been drawn to understanding people -- what drives them, what holds them back, and what it takes to help them move forward. That curiosity led her to study psychology in college, where she developed a genuine love for neuroscience and the science behind human behavior. But the work that truly shaped her career happened outside the classroom.
While in college, Moriah began volunteering with a jail ministry. The women she met there -- many of whom were navigating substance use and complex trauma -- left a lasting impression on her. Their stories, their resilience, and the gaps in support available to them pointed her toward social work and toward a career built on showing up for people in their hardest moments.
She went on to work at a women's recovery house, spending evenings going to meetings alongside residents, sharing meals, and building real relationships with women waiting to access long-term treatment. It was relational, unglamorous, deeply human work -- and it gave her a foundation that still shapes how she practices today.
How She Works
Moriah's approach is client-led, which means the work is shaped around you, not the other way around. She is not the kind of therapist who shows up with a rigid agenda. While she keeps treatment goals in focus, she creates space for what actually comes up -- because real life rarely follows a plan.
She works with teens and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use. Her background in neuroscience informs the way she understands what is happening beneath the surface, and her years of relational, community-based work inform the way she holds space for the people in front of her.
For clients who are new to therapy, Moriah is clear about one thing: the first session is not a test. It is simply a chance to get to know each other. She genuinely loves first sessions -- the chance to meet someone new, hear their story, and begin figuring out how she can best support them. There is no pressure, no wrong answers, and no expectation that you have everything figured out before you walk in.
What She Cares About
Ask Moriah what a good day at work looks like, and she will not talk about metrics or milestones. She will talk about moments. A client mentioning that they tried something new between sessions. An idea clicking in real time. The look on someone's face when they realize the work is actually working.
That investment in the small wins is part of what makes her so good at this. She is not waiting for the big breakthrough. She is paying attention to every step along the way.
Moriah is also deeply aligned with the mission at Little Hearts Big Hearts. She and founder Haley Hast have worked together before, and their shared faith and shared commitment to walking alongside clients through their healing journeys is what brought Moriah to this team. She is not here by accident. She is here because she believes in what we are building.
Outside the Office
When Moriah is not in session, she tends to be doing something creative. She paints, gardens, and picks up her camera when the moment calls for it. She is someone who finds meaning in the details -- in growth, in light, in making something with her hands. That same attentiveness shows up in her work every single day.
